Privacy Policy of PrivacyTools.com

This page describes what information we collect, and how that information might be used.

GDPR Update for May 2018

What information do we collect?

We may collect information from you when you fill out a form on our website, register for our service, or use our service. However, you may visit our site anonymously by not filling out any forms, registering, or using our service.

When submitting a contact form, you may be asked to enter your name and email address. When registering for our service, our payment processor will request financial information necessary to process and confirm the validity of your order. Details about your IP address, browser, and operating system may be recorded at any point.

While using our service, details of usage may be logged for technical and legal purposes. Such information would normally only be used to troubleshoot technical issues, except when requested by valid legal process. We're happy to say that such a request has only occurred twice in our 10+ years of thousands of legitimate customers.

What do we use your information for?

Any of the information we collect may be used in one or more of the following ways:

  • To respond to your inquiries
  • To facilitate customer service
  • To deliver a requested product/service
  • To customize your experience
  • To troubleshoot our service
  • To improve our website
  • To prevent fraud/abuse
  • To comply with the law

Email Usage

The email address that you provide for registration or form inquiries will only be used in compliance with the list above (e.g. to send you information and updates pertaining to your order or inquiry).

IP Address Usage

Your IP address may be used to evaluate fraud risk associated with your purchase of our software/service (see GDPR section below). Your IP address may also be recorded in our server log files.

Private Information Security (How we protect your information)

When you submit a form on our website, your information will be submitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL). When you make a purchase, all sensitive financial information is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) directly to our payment gateway provider (PayPal.com). Your financial information (e.g. credit card number) will NOT be stored on our server.

3rd Party Disclosure

Aside from trusted 3rd parties who assist us in operating our website and servicing you, your personal information will NOT be sold, rented, exchanged, or given to any other company, without your consent, other than for purposes of delivering a purchased product/service, preventing fraud/abuse, complying with the law, enforcing site policies, or protecting our or others rights/propert/safety.

Do we use cookies?

Yes. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer's hard drive via your web browser, which enable us to recognize your browser and remember certain information. We use cookies to compile aggregate data about where our website traffic comes from (referrers), as well as to enable logging in to our members-only area. Our site is not configured to react to DNT (do not track) signals from your web browser, but you are free to disable cookies while using our website, or to delete them via your web browser afterwards.

Third party links

Any 3rd party websites linked to from our website may or may not have their own privacy policies. Either way, we cannot accept responsibility for the content and activities of such linked sites. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our site and welcome any feedback about these sites.

California Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance

We are in compliance with the requirements of COPPA (Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act), and will not distribute your personal information to outside parties without your consent, except when necessary to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect our or others rights, property, or safety. Our website, products and services are all directed to people who are at least 13 years of age or older.

European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

New for May 2018

The following information relates to our compliance with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • The personal information we store about you on our server includes only 1) your first name, 2) your email address, and 3) your IP address. We do not store any financial information on our servers.
  • We keep your first name, email address, and IP address on our server for the duration of your subscription to our service (90 days), plus an additional 30 days. The reason for the additional 30 days is so that you have a chance to renew your subscription to our service at a discounted rate. If your subscription is cancelled/refunded, your information will, by default, still remain in our system for the 30+90 (total 120) days from the date of your purchase.
  • Our server is located in the United States. Our mailing address can be found at the bottom of this page.
  • You may contact us at anytime to review, correct, transfer or completely remove your information from our server, provided such correction/removal does not conflict with legal requirement.
  • We do not maintain an email distribution/marketing list. If for some reason we send an email unrelated to your active subscription or to an inquiry you made, it will contain an unsubscribe link or instructions.
  • Ordinarily, any email we receive from you will be deleted after 30 days, unless there is valid reason for us to store it for longer. Such reasons include testimonial confirmation, legal requirements, or ongoing communication with you.

Please see the above 3rd Party Disclosure section for circumstances under which your personal data may be shared with outside parties. Additionally, trusted 3rd parties associated with the normal operating of our business, and that therefore may have access to your personal information, include:
